Quality Time

Family time is something we all need and want. It's hard to find the time with busy work and kiddo schedules.

It's more of the norm to have to schedule around split family households as well. Having to share that time can really be a challenge.
When you co-parent things don't always go as planned. I have found this to be so true with my experiences.

The best thing to do is make the best of any situation. Emotions can get ugly and that's the cold hard truth. Take a step back and re-evaluate the situation. That could be as simple as taking a deep breathe and exhaling out the frustration. Now don't get me wrong here, I have gotten angry with the best of them. I'm very transparent and I don't always have things together.

Let's face it, we are all human and have human emotions, but one thing is certain the kiddos come first. So once the frustration fades you can look at the present time and what fun activities you can do, even on a short timeline. Take a walk at a park or even around the neighborhood. Get out a board game and grab some snacks. Get cozy on the couch, pop some popcorn and watch a movie.

The possibilities are endless and don't have to break the bank. Another great activity is to have little helpers in the kitchen while cooking. Baking cookies is a fun time I do with my kiddos, especially around the holidays.

The possibilities are endless..

One on one time is something I do with having a high schooler and middle schooler. Day dates are a great way to catch up and talk. Taking time to find out their interests and talking about them is a great for bonding. Makes them feel special that I make time, even if it's just a trip to the grocery store.

So if you ever feel in a rut to have that quality time... take a breathe and don't over think it. Whether it's a few hours or 10 min of time, it will mean something to them.
